Only those candidates who have passed either the Primary Examination or the CET examination are trained.

Selection Process:
Selection of DNB trainees is done only through an Interview, and Objective assessment of the candidate's aptitude, communication, and technical skills. The date for the interview and aptitude test is announced on www.kalrahospital.net/.com, and through advertisement in newspapers. The details of the method adopted for selection, along with the marks obtained, and rank of each candidate is sent to the Board immediately on declaration of results. Kalra Hospital Sri Ram Cardio-Thoracic & Neurosciences Centre does not conduct any written examination for selecting candidates.

Schedule for Enrolment:
  • Student(s) are enrolled each year only for the academic sessions beginning in January.
  • Last date for candidates to apply for admission: January 15
  • The result of the selected candidate(s) is displayed within 7 days of holding the aptitude test; viz. by January 22. The result is displayed at www.kalrahospital.net/ .com.
  • The candidate(s) must join Kalra Hospital within three weeks of display of the result; viz. by February 15.
Stipend/Remuneration:
The hospital pays each trainee (post MBBS/post Diploma) a minimum monthly stipend not less than the following rates (in INR):

Broad Specialty
First Year: 8000.00
Second Year: 9000.00
Third Year: 10000.00

Super Specialty
First Year: 10000.00
Second Year: 11000.00
Third Year: 12000.00

Leave for DNB trainee(s):
The leave to DNB trainee(s) shall be granted as and when required as per the hospital’s leave policy.

Training in Basic Sciences:
In addition to the training offered in the specialty, the hospital also provides training in Basic Sciences and allied subjects of the concerned specialty, so as to enable the DNB trainee(s) to gain invaluable knowledge in subjects like Pathology, Microbiology, and etcetera.

Thesis:
The registered candidate(s) are given a Thesis Protocol that is sent to the Controller of Examinations NBE, within three months of registration, for acceptance.

Assessment of Trainees:
Kalra Hospital conducts six-monthly assessment tests of its DNB trainee(s) in respective specialty(s). The assessment tests cover theoretical knowledge, clinical skills, procedural skills, communication skills, knowledge of health care system, and ethical and legal issues. The assessment of knowledge also includes ten short essay type questions. The examination is conducted under supervision of local appraisers.

Training Fees:
As training fees, only a sum not exceeding 50000.00 (in INR) shall be collected from DNB trainee(s) each year, under the following heads (in INR):

Tuition fees: 15000.00
Library fees: 5000.00
Internet fees: 10000.00
Guest lectures, seminars/conferences fees: 10000.00
Six-monthly assessment tests fees: 10000.00
